Safety

There is a large Mormon population in Nevada, so most people recognize the missionaries. The area surrounding Las Vegas is relatively safe, particularly Summerlin and the northernmost parts of North Las Vegas. As you near the strip, the neighborhoods become more questionable and missionaries should be more cautious at night.

Always wear your helmet when riding bikes, and ride on the sidewalk when possible. The roads in Las Vegas are caked with oil and dust from the constant, dry heat. However, when it rains, the roads become very slick. If you a driving, take extreme caution in the rain, even if you are from a rainy location. The road conditions differ greatly in Las Vegas.

Sometimes passers by will heckle you. Respond to them respectfully, if you respond at all.

Experiences

What advice would you give to someone going to this Mission?

Stick to the rules as strictly as possible. There are so many temptations in Las Vegas and it is easy to lose perspective.
